Therapy for
Depression & Anxiety

Individual therapy for depression

We often use the terms sad and depressed interchangeably. Sadness is a normal emotion that we all experience from time to time in response to various events. Depression, however, lasts for several weeks or months and can interfere with a person’s daily functioning.

Feelings of hopelessness, despair, difficulty concentrating or “brain fog”, social isolation, insomnia/ hypersomnia (sleeping too much), are a few symptoms of clinical depression. A person often feels like everything, including meeting basic needs, is difficult.

Depression is caused by a combination of biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors that vary from person to person. With a treatment plan developed specifically for you, feeling better is possible!

I will work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs and objectives.

I am trained in a variety of evidenced based treatment modalities that have been proven to effectively treat depression, including interpersonal psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness meditation, and Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT).

Together, we will outline a comprehensive and customized approach to treating depression, including:

  • Exploring and identifying events or patterns that may contribute to depression
  • Identifying negative or disordered thought patterns
  • Setting realistic goals to enhance emotional well being
  • Teaching you real coping strategies and stress-management techniques
  • Developing healthy relationships and social support
  • Providing concrete tools to prevent worsening of symptoms or relapse
